Whilk Meadow Caravan Park is surrounded by the best of Scotland’s nature and wildlife, so if you are interested in birdwatching, photography, or just simply experiencing the nature of the Scottish Coast, there are plenty of animals, birds and sea life to enjoy!
Just off the shore, opposite Whilk Meadow Caravan Park , you will certainly be able to spot Scotland’s most common type of seal, harbour seals, basking on the Seal Rocks and catching fish in the sea. The best time to see these friendly, playful marine mammals is in midsummer and early autumn, but they can surely be seen all year round!
Looking across the coast towards Ailsa Craig, you will be able to see a variety of seabirds perching on the rocks and diving for fish. This includes the Northern Gannet, the largest local seabird in the area and reaching numbers of over 40,000. As well as this you will be able to spot Razorbills, Fulmars, Kittiwakes and many more!
There are a range of different types of marine mammals that can be seen near Whilk Meadow Caravan Park. Harbour Porpoise can be easily spotted near the Ayrshire coast, they are one of the smallest type of cetaceans in the world. You might just be fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of a Bottlenose Dolphin or a Minke Whale!
Away from the coast, we are located amongst some of the most spectacular nature and grasslands in Scotland. We regularly see the Red Deer which is Scotland’s largest deer! Further inland you can find the Red Deer Range which is the perfect place to observe these beautiful creatures grazing in their natural habitat.
